Thankful :)

This year, moreso than ever, I am beyond thankful for my many blessings.

(In no particular order...)

I am thankful for my precious daughter, the apple of my eye.

I am thankful that Alaina is healthy and happy.

I am thankful that she can run and play and do many things that we often take for granted.

I am thankful for my supportive husband. My Adie :)

I am thankful for my loving family.

I am thankful for the roof over my head, the food on my table, the clothes on my back.

I am thankful for God's favor and faithfulness. He provided Adam with a wonderful new job. May we never forget that HE is our provider.

I am thankful for my sweet friends who surround me, each unique and each important.

I am thankful for the vision God has given me.

Perhaps mostly, I am thankful that this year I can truly say that I KNOW Him. I don't just know ABOUT Him, I really KNOW HIM! My God, my Jesus, My Savior. I am madly in love with my Jesus who set me free.

I'm thankful that I've finally realized and taken hold of what was available to me all along.

And of course I am thankful that you stopped by :)

12-15 Months!

Ok, please forgive me for my blog neglect. I think the last thorough update on Alaina was given, oh, about 3 months ago or something. Say it ain't so! Oopsie :(

There is of course SO much to share about our girl. Let's see...what has she been up to the last 3 months or so? Hmmm...

A little bit of this...

And a little bit of that...

Some of this...

And a tad of that...

Alaina is not just a girly girl. She is a girly girly GIRLY girl :)

She loves jewelry. When Grandma JoJo comes around, she's in for a real treat because JoJo is one for *bold* jewelry too!

Here she is modeling JoJo's thick, beaded necklace.

She loves clothes. In fact, I can't even open her closet without her running over and pulling on my leg and letting me know in a stern manner that she would REALLY like for me to pick her up and let her thumb through her outfits. She oohs and ahhs over her clothes. She runs her fingers through her hanging shirts and dresses, coats and pajamas. She marvels at one piece, then moves on to the next. Like she's on the hunt for the *perfect* piece.

She loves purses.

And bows. LOTS of bows :)

Gotta love this girly girly GIRLY girl!

Alaina has enjoyed spending some 1-on-1 time with her buddy Aislynn (aka "Eye-dee").

She just cut her 5th tooth. Nope, not a typo. 15 months and only 5 teeth. Well, actually about 4 and 1/10. She is drooling like crazy though, and it seems as if she's cutting several more teeth at once.

Despite her delayed toothies, she eats like a champ! This girl can't get enough fruit and veggies. She loves soup, like her mama. And "tur-tey" and pasta and grits and pbj's.

...and corn...

Lainey Bug likes most things, although her appetite seems to have declined a bit lately. Sadly, anything dairy is out - nothing with cheese or milk or eggs - due to what I'm calling a milk protein allergy :(

Much of her time is spent reading books, loving on her favorite kitty cat Daisy, playing outside with her ball, running around the house, running errands with Mama, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Chuggington or Baby Einstein, listening to Daddy playing the guitar, dancing, laughing, hiding, peek-a-boo, sorting through her clothes, and organizing tupperware, and let's not forget MAKING MESSES!

This girl takes after her mama in that she is a busy bee who likes "doing" things. She stays busy all day long. And she's really into sorting or organizing things one by one.

For instance, she will take her pants out of her bottom dresser drawer one by one and place them somewhere else. Then she will retrieve the pants from the pile and "clean up" (there's a song I sing and everything!), putting the pants one by one into the dresser again. She does this with her pouch full of bows and lots of other things.

Alaina says dozens of words. She will attempt any word we say, even hard words like "refrigerator." She nods her head with a yes or a no, depending on the questions we ask her. And she signs :) :) :)

"All done"

And one of my many most favorite things is that she has started to say, "Bless You" if you sneeze. We did not teach her this intentionally, she just picked it up from us I guess. Her "Beh too" is enough to melt your heart!

Love my sweetheart to pieces :)

You May Find Us Here...

If you are looking for us, you may find us here...

JJ Biello Park

Thanks to Adam's wandering nature, he stumbled upon a new park fairly close to our crib. Adam likes to explore, and often he finds the coolest places, like this park in Woodstock. Dare I say it's our new favorite park???

We like it for several reasons...

1. It's safe.

2. Parking is close to the playground.

3. The playground area is gigantic! There are two adequate playgrounds, side by side. One is for the younger crowd, and the other is exclusively for "big kids."

4. There's an open grassy area, perfect for "runners" ;)

5. There's a large covered pavilion with plenty of picnic tables from which to choose.

We brought a picnic lunch the other day. You know, sandwiches, chips, crackers and of course bruised bananas!!!

*This is totally embarrassing to me, by the way. I told Adam not to feed Alaina the bruised part, but he did anyway. He claims since banana bread calls for ridiculously ripe bananas, even bruised ones, it's ok to feed our little one such things. Still yuck-o to me!

Silly daddy!

Good thing we don't have a picky eater on our hands :)

6. There's a nice-looking bathroom next to the pavilion. I didn't go in to check it out (I avoid public restrooms if at all possible), but it's a fancy step up from a Blue John port-o-potty, that's for darn sure! YES - I am a restroom snob, and PROUD OF IT!

7. Lainey Bug loves it!

Check out our girl in action. It's always a bright and sunny day when we get to frolic in the park as a family:)

On a swing...

On another swing...

Down the slide with Mama...

Daddy's turn...

"Alright, Dada, follow me..."

Loving it!

I repeat, LOVING IT!!

We Emmett's have had lots of opportunities for quality family time lately. What's the reason, you might ask? Well, Adam lost his job two weeks ago. He was simply laid off, nothing he did or didn't do. Just business. SO - we are finding ourselves in the same spot as we were in March. Amazingly, we are not worried a bit. Adam is doing his part, and we are trusting God to do His part, the part only He can do. We expect an incredible door to be opened for Adam REALLY SOON!!!

In the meantime, we will continue to enjoy our family time. :)
