Here goes my best attempt to catch you all up on our "Everyday Emmett" lives...
~First up, we are all kind of in a sad mood today. We have been rehabilitating a baby bird since yesterday morning. Our neighbor brought it over to see if we could house it in our newly fenced backyard so it would be safer than in the woods. It's mother had kicked it out of the nest so it could learn how to fly. But it was having more trouble taking off than its siblings. It was sure trying though! We became a little attached to "Baby Bird" (as Alaina calls it), even in this short period of time. Sadly, a tragic accident happened this evening when the landscaper came to tend to our lawn. It appears he stepped on, and killed, Baby Bird. We are currently mourning the loss of our dear Baby Bird :(
Definitely not Baby Bird, but probably relatives of Baby Bird...
~Second piece of news: We finally have our fence! After years of debate, we decided to bite the bullet & fence in our yard with part of this year's tax return. Luckily, we saved a huge chunk of change by tying in our fence with our neighbor's. This year a fence became more of a
need than a
want since we've had several coyote sightings in the neighborhood recently. Can't take any chances with Little Miss. We all LOVE our private, fenced backyard!

~Adam is still unemployed. BUT he has 2 promising jobs in the works as we speak. He just has to go through the process. It's been rough, ya'll. He hasn't had a regular salary since last October. And of course I'm not working either since I stay home with Alaina. However, I'm thankful to say, "We're still here!" Thanks to the help of our loving, generous family and friends, we have been able to cover everything we have needed. We praise God for stirring the hearts of our loved ones to so generously give to our family in our time of need. I faithfully expect to report that Adam will have a wonderful new (lasting) job very very soon!!! Please join us in prayer for the perfect door of opportunity to be opened for Adam.

~Speaking of blessings, we received a glorious package from Ashley last week. I do not know Ashley, but she reads my blog and I absolutely love her for sending us the CUTEST things from time to time. From clothing to stationary, everything Ashley sends our way is top notch!
THANK YOU, Ashley, for the super cute outfit for Alaina!!! It is surprisingly similar in pattern to her Easter dress, as a matter of fact. Pics to come...
~JoJo & Pops took us out for a mall date several weeks ago. The target: Alaina's Easter dress & shoes. Check, check!

~We have the best new next door neighbors we could ask for. They are literally a God-send. Matt & Chelsea are about our age (a tad younger, actually) and they have a spunky and super cute daughter named Addison who is 2 and a half. Alaina & Addison play together all the time. Matt is a youth pastor at a local church. Chelsea currently stays home with Addison. We have already had many playdates, and we are blessed to call them friends! Yesterday morning, all the girls went to storytime at the library and then to Chick-fil-A afterward for lunch and playtime. It was fun for everyone!
~Speaking of friends, 3 of the Fab5 turned *2* recently! Alaina got to celebrate with each of them (Emma Grace, Aislynn & Parker). More details to come...

~2 days this week we went over to Dan & Stevie's house while they were out of town on their 1 year anniversary beach trip! They live in Cumming now, so they are rather close by. I fed the cats (Sammy & Dori), watered the plants, checked the mail, etc. Alaina got to tag along both times, and boy was she a handful. She tirelessly chased her beloved Sammy Cat all around the house :)
Hey, I know them!
It's my Duncle Dan & Aunt Stevie ("Den & "Teevie") :)
~Aunt Becky came to visit recently for an afternoon. Alaina loves her "Aunt Bet-ty," especially when she brings gifts! She brought Alaina a special treat, a play camera.

~Adam, Alaina & I went to Blairsville recently to visit Babelle & Pa. Babelle took us out to lunch at Fatz, and it was yummy. Babelle sent Alaina home with some treats, including this set of garden tools...

~Alaina has returned to her usual sweet self. She melts my heart each and every day. She is lovey and amazingly affectionate. Her vocabulary is bursting with variety these days. She is putting several words together now, from "Thank You, Sweetie" to "Not Nice, Mommy."

~Oh, and I finally conquered the ponytail!

~I am hosting an Easter lunch this Sunday after church. Just a small gathering of immediate family, but something to prepare for nonetheless. And I'm hippity-hoppity happy to do it!!! We will have fun watching Alaina hop around and hunt for Easter eggs, I'm sure.
Alrighty, I am about out of updates. I'm sure there's more, but I need to move on to other things. So long for now folks!
