Big Girl Potty!!!

WHOA do I have a BIG girl now! Alaina has been knocking my socks off lately with all her big girl tricks and feats. For example, today she climbed up an extra tall, extra steep grass hill at the park - NO HANDS - ALL BY HER BIG GIRL SELF! Way to go, Laina!

As a treat, we stopped by McDonald's on the way home from the park to get our *free* frozen strawberry lemonade. Lucky for Laina, this drink tanked according to both me and Adam, so she got to enjoy this "surprise" all by her big girl self. We filmed a video of her giggling to herself as she drank her "we-mom-mane" or whatever she calls it.

As could be expected, nature called just minutes later as we were heading to the bathtub to hose her down. I ran the water while my naked girl nosed around in the bathroom. She noticed her big girl potty just sitting there, lonely I guess. So without hesitation, she sat her little bottom down and went tinkle!

The proof...YES I took a picture of her pee pee :)

I didn't quite know what was happening until I heard it...THE ROYAL TUNE! This special potty plays an assortment of royal tunes (whatever that is) whenever it detects *substance* of any kind. Alaina was so startled by the music that she jumped from her potty in a panic!

A few drops of pee in the floor was no matter considering the wonderfulness of this grand occasion! Alaina was so proud of herself that she tried and tried and tried to go some more. Her little tummy muscles were working away, but no more could come out. Oh well, she will have plenty more opportunities :)

HOORAY FOR THIS BIG DAY!!

Mother's Day Highlights

Here are the highlights of my Mother's Day this year, along with a few pictures we were able to capture over Mother's Day weekend...

~ Sleeping in...until 7am! ~
Actually, I felt fully rested and was shocked to find myself "sleeping in" until 7 o'clock. I guess the opportunity was good enough for me. My life has forever been changed :)

~ Breakfast in bed ~
Adam was too sweet to me on Mother's Day. When I awoke (at 7am), I smelled the deliciosity of bacon cooking. I received a "generous portion" (as Adam puts it) of bacon, scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Yummmmm.

~ Coffee in peace ~
I rarely get to enjoy my morning coffee in peace, and I'm quite vocal about it. ;) Sometimes it takes me 2+ hours to finish my coffee because of my little bundle of joy. Alaina likes to climb on me or has an endless list of needs that comes before my morning luxury. Well, on this special day, I literally sat in bed with my coffee - just sitting and thinking, enjoying the peace and quiet, for an entire hour. Sweet joy!

~ An afternoon nap ~
Need I say more?

~ Mother's Day Cards ~
Cards of any kind are a favorite of mine. This year, I got 3!!!

~ Dinner at CB ~
The 3 of us dined with Adam's parents at Cracker Barrel. Bonus: I did not sit next to Alaina so I was not on my usual "Alaina duty." But if I had been, she was an angel this time around. Something about Poppy & Rah-Rah puts my girl on her best behavior.

~ Simply enjoying my little girl ~
Adam is good about taking the work out of being a mom on Mother's Day. He changes the diapers, takes care of meals, etc. I just get to sit back and enjoy my sweet girl. It's a special time of reflection for me.

Parker's Party!!

Another Fab5 buddy of Alaina's turned *2* in April - PARKER!! Parker had a farmer-themed party at the lovely Poole's Mill Park in Cumming. Great choice, if you ask me! We sometimes visit Poole's Mill just because it's a great spot to stop and smell the roses :)

The Hull's provided lunch - Publix fried chicken with all the fixins' - another great choice! Let's not forget the delicious cake.

Some of the kids got a particular thrill out of the cooler containing the cold drinks and more specifically ICE!

It was a hot day ya'll.

Many of Alaina's "fends" were there. The girls - Alaina, Aislynn & Emma Grace :)

Happily swinging with Aislynn...

Parker decided he wanted to take a stroll with our stroller, my purse and Alaina's diaper bag all intact.

Somehow Parker ended up with Alaina's sunglasses too.

Hey, the birthday boy gets what he wants!!

And lastly, I will include this picture because it is random and it is funny. Maybe only to me, but funny nonetheless. As we were walking to our car, Kim & Aislynn joined us. In this moment, doesn't it look like Adam & Kim are the happy parents of twins?? HA!

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY, PRECIOUS PARKER!!

Aislynn's 2nd BD!

Alaina's good buddy Aislynn ("Eye-D") turned *2* just a few weeks ago. We were thrilled when we were asked to be a part of her birthday fun day! Aislynn's mama Kim planned kind of a last minute play date during the week to honor her girl's special day.

"High-5 on turning 2, Eye-D!"

A bunch of us - moms & kids (+ Aislynn's daddy Michael) - met up early one Friday morning and carpooled to Imagine It!, The Children's Museum of Atlanta. Alaina & I rode with Kari, Mason and Ryder, and it was a treat! I miss my girl chats with Kari. Kari & I worked together at Allstate, and we go to church together too. We love any chance to spend with Miss Kari!!!

Alaina was on her best backseat behavior, possibly to impress the cute boys :) The DVD playing within her view probably also helped keep her quietly entertained. Before we knew it, we reached our destination.

Imagine It! was new to us, and it was a hit! There were so many cool things for the kids to play with and on and under. There were dozens of stations and bright colors and activities with sand and water and paint and balls and almost everything imaginable. We didn't even make it to all the stations there were so many.

In addition to the many exhibits, there was a show about Timbuktu. We sat in the floor and watched the entire show, full of theatrics and music. Lucky Mason was even picked to be part of the show!

This was Alaina's response to the lively show...

My thoughts exactly! ;) The kids clapped and danced along with the music. It amazes me at how uninhibited children are.

I let Alaina roam around and do as she pleased, which worked well until she found herself wandering away from the activities toward the restrooms. On her excursion, she found some kind of stepping contraption, something she could take 2 steps up, walk a few feet and look out a window at the kids playing, and then walk 2 steps down. Well, she would have stayed on this thing all day if I would have let her. I pleaded with her to get off the thing and go play with her friends. She ignored me. I pretended to walk away. She didn't care. She was infatuated with this thing. Well, I took my eyes off her for a second, and she fell down the step and hurt her leg. She cried. I felt terrible for not actually witnessing the fall. Then she couldn't walk. She was limping really bad. So the rest of the time, I had to hold her. But it was nothing that Mommy could not handle :)

Luckily, the "incident" happened right before lunch time, so we all took a rest and spent some time sitting at tables and eating our sack lunches that Kim prepared for ALL OF US! Bless her heart, Kim must have packed dozens of lunches. Much appreciated :) After lunch, we sang Happy Birthday to Aislynn and ate dessert (cookies/cake).

The whole trip was a blast! Aislynn is such a sweet and well behaved little girl. Some even comment that Alaina & Aislynn appear to be twins!!

A pic of the girls from last fall :)

We have gotten to know Aislynn pretty well over the last year, and she is very dear to us. I kept Aislynn for several months, off and on, last fall/winter. Alaina & Aislynn were precious playing together. They became great pals, always asking for one another when the other wasn't around. Can you tell they love each other?

They love to give hugs. They are so sweet (and cute!) together.

We love you, Aislynn!!

EG's 2nd BD Party!

Last month, Alaina's Fab5 friend Emma Grace turned *2*!! EG had an icecream party at Scoops, a cutesty icecream shop. Emma was quite the hostess ;)

They had a super cool gumball table for the kids to drool over.

Each child got to make a craft, a door hanger for his/her room.

In a banana split second, Alaina made it crystal clear that she did not welcome my opinion or help involving the making of her personal door hanger.

I originally chose a green canvas on which to work, and she shot my idea down as soon as it went up. We somewhat peacefully came to an agreement on yellow. Then she loudly "hinted" that she did not want any stickers on her canvas. What? This girl loves stickers! Understatement. SHE LOVES STICKERS OF ALL KIND!!!

I waited for her mood to pass, arranged a daddy distraction, and then completed her craft. It is super cute, and hanging on her bedroom door at this very moment.

Alaina was able to socialize with a few of her pals - Nate, K and of course Emma Grace.

Alaina & Nate (1 week apart in age)

EG's newly hatched baby brother Will was there!!! What a teeny tiny cutie pie!

Happy 2nd birthday, sweet Emma Grace!!
