I am about 8 weeks along now in my pregnancy. Each Wednesday pushes me forward into a new week and a new baby phase. To be honest, I haven't been keeping up with the baby center updates week to week. I feel like I basically know what progressions are taking place in there.
People are asking me if I feel sick. Typical question. And the answer is, YES, somewhat. But thankfully not nearly as bad as last time around where the nausea lasted all day every day. I noticed around 6 weeks (Christmas) that mild nausea would come & go, the important part being that it would actually GO! Then week 7 gained some momentum in the nausea department. Typically, I wake up hungry and feel a little sick until I eat. Then I'm usually fine during the day. The real problem comes at night, which is weird. Usually around 8pm until bedtime. I'm taking my prenatal vitamin right before bed, so this could not be causing the sick feeling. I'm trying an experiment with water only in a day vs. water accompanied by sweet tea, soda, juice (drinks with sugar). I may be on to something...In the meantime, I just have to remember that pregnancy can be unpredictable and unexplanable.
Also, brushing my teeth is DANGEROUS! My gag reflex is extra sensitive and my toothpaste seems way to strong. Every time I brush my tongue, I reach the virge of throwing up. But I always seem to get myself together before anything happens. Perfume & cologne seem overpowering and most bother me, even my own. Coffee is nauseating in and of itself.
In the food category, at first I wanted fruit and yogurt, healthy stuff. OJ was my favorite drink! One night I got up during the night to down a big glass. Weird for me because I normally don't like OJ too much. Then my taste centered around protein and fat, mostly fried chicken. I cannot get enough of chicken lately. I also went through a fake cheese phase (which happened in my last pregnancy too). I noticed this after grocery shopping when I came home with the following...cheese puffs, cheap mac & cheese (with the powdered cheese) and nacho doritos. With the exception of the Doritos, I almost never want the other items. And cereal has become a daily menu item, mostly Rice Krispies.
Well, no nausea yet tonight. I'm still conducting my sugar experiment, so I'll keep you posted on my findings (if you care!).
Good night :)
