Old Wives Tales

Here are some fun old wives tales that are believed by some to be indicators of the sex of a baby...

Heartbeat:
If you're having a girl, the fetal heart rate will be above 140. If it's a boy, it will be below 140. (In my first ultrasound, the heart rate was 133 bpm)

Cravings:
If you're craving something sweet, it's a girl. Sour or salty cravings, a boy. (salty/sour for me!)

Weight Gain:
This one refers to the husband. If he puts on weight during the pregnancy, it's a girl. If he doesn't, it's a boy. (Adam's losing weight now)

Face Shape:
If the mommy has a round and rosy face during pregnancy, it's a girl. (no changes to my face yet)

String Test:
Put your ring through a string to create a necklace-type object. Hold it over your belly. If it swings around in circles, you're having a girl. If it swings back and forth, it's a boy. (I actually did this today. Back & forth)

Pick up a Key:
If you pick up a key by the thinner end, it's a girl. Pick it up by the bottom, rounder part and you're having a boy. (Who picks up a key by the thin end?)

Ask Yourself:
Moms-to-be correctly guess the sex of their baby 71% of the time.

I'm seeing blue :)
BUT who knows for sure...this could have a surprise ending!
